Old Fall River Road is a 9.5 mile dirt road, open to vehicles one-way, uphill during the summer. Between the opening of Trail Ridge Road around Memorial Day and the opening of Old Fall River Road to traffic around July 4, we are able to ride bicycles on this historic road, built between 1913-1920.
We travel by van from Estes Park, climbing Trail Ridge Road to begin the bike ride at the Alpine Visitor Center in Rocky Mountain National Park, the highest elevation visitor center in the National Park System.
From the Alpine Visitor Center, we descend Old Fall River Road, which ends at the Endovalley Picnic area. This is a beautiful dirt road with waterfalls and wildlife. It is likely that there will be snow just off of the road; a very exciting tour that is a favorite of our guides.
When we reach the end of Old Fall River Road, we enjoy a picnic lunch at one of the lovely picnic spots along Endovalley Road. After lunch, we resume the ride and head out of Rocky Mountain National Park through the Fall River Entrance, heading through downtown Estes Park, around Lake Estes and back to the New Venture Headquarters.
